Rachel Usher Interior Design is a multi-award winning luxury interior design practice specialising in providing clients with outstanding bespoke interiors across the UK and internationally.
Rachel Usher, Founder & Creative Director
Creative Director, Rachel founded her design practice in 2012 and is a multi award winning Interior Designer, recognised within her field and holds full SBID (Society of British and International Interior Design) accreditation.
The success of the studio so far is undeniably related to Rachel's strong design perspective and creative direction, where her approach to design goes far deeper than aesthetics, unravelling the intangible emotional benefits of a space, and how a space should improve the way in which you live within it, is her primary pursuit.
Rachel and the wider studio team take the important time needed to truly understand all clients, their personalities and individual lifestyles, viewing this time as an integral element within the interior design journey. Getting to know clients is a key focus for the RU studio, we believe that the success of any interior design is how the space transforms the clients' relationship and interaction with their built environment, a profound understanding that the spaces we occupy have a direct impact upon our emotional wellbeing.
Rachel has a strong affinity with Southern California and enjoys spending time in her second home there. Rachel has a design presence both in the UK and Los Angeles, allowing her to take on projects on both sides of the Atlantic.
On a personal level, Rachel is married, a mother of two children and is fuelled by Yorkshire Tea. Rachel is often accompanied by Sox, a Cavapoo who also spends much of her time as an extended part of the studio team.
As a team we’re devoted to our practice, Rachels approachable leadership style has successfully led to a collaborative approach to all of the studios work, ensuring that each design is enhanced at all stages of the process.
Our diverse collective experience, passion and aptitude for design has allowed us to create schemes which genuinely acknowledge and embrace the delicate balance needed between timeless luxury and intelligent design.
Our team members have attained experience working for some of the most illustrious design-houses within the UK and as a result, we’re a well-informed studio practice encompassing a wealth of skills and knowledge within the interior design sector.
Rachel is also the founder of The Business of Interiors and hosts a podcast ‘If These Walls Could Talk’ that is designed for the design professional, lifting the lid on what it means to be in The Business of Interiors.

Taran Feltham, Interior Designer
Taran is a First Class Interior Design Graduate who believes in the power of storytelling through design. From analysing the architecture of a building, to curating uniquely tailored schemes for her clients, Taran’s passion for expressing the intangible elements of design knows no limits. She loves to experiment with colour and pattern, and is deeply inspired by the world around her.
Outside of work, Taran is unable to sit still and is always busying herself by learning new skills or exploring new places. Taran enjoys studying history, learning new languages and exploring the Peak District on her motorbike. Taran lives with her fiancé, and is also a mum to boxer, Bruno, and tortoise, Buttercup.
Chloe, Brand Manager
Brand Manager Chloe, a graduate of International Media and Communications, sharing with us her wealth of brand strategy experience having developed the branding and story telling of some of the most well recognised names in the home interiors sector. Art directing our photoshoots Chloe always ensures that we achieve an insta worthy shot and ensures that the growth, brand profile and strategic direction of the company maintains creative momentum.
Chloe is the 'chief biscuit buyer' for our client meetings - often taking special requests from the team. Known within the studio for her razor sharp come-backs, Chloe loves a bit of banter. Mum to ragdoll kitten Willow, and also enjoys a good bubble tea.
Hannah Davies, Accounts Administrator
Accounts Administrator Hannah is a calming presence in our busy studio, with an AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting and over 8 years of accounting expereince. Hannahs eye for detail, and organised & systematic approach helps ensure that all of our financial systems are robust and our purchasing runs smoothly.
Nothing gets passed Hannah, her ability to notice everything, even when the design team think she is absorbed in a spreadsheet, is a particuarly special skill!
Away from the studio Hannahs life is full of fun and giggles as she balances work with her young family of two girls, with another baby on the way this year, and not forgetting Vera the french bulldog who may be seeking some days in the office for some R&R once there's more children around the home.
Colette Lowe, Interior Designer
Colette made the bold decision to transition careers and follow her passion for interior design, graduating from KLC school of design.
Colette's background in International Sales provides her with a solid foundation in customer communication and problem-solving, enhancing her ability to connect with clients and address their needs effectively. With a keen eye for detail to ensure that every aspect of the FF&E design, from furniture selection to fixture finishes, aligns with the design concept and client requirements.
Away from the studio, Colette enjoys travelling, spending quality time with family and unwinding with gripping psychological dramas.
Alan Smart, Installation Team
Alan’s 34 year Military & Public Service career provides our clients with the reassurance and confidence for their project with the highest unwavering attention to detail.
His wealth of experience and a positive ‘can do attitude,’ ensures your installation will be to the highest quality and standard that comes from working with the Rachel Usher team.
Bruce Drennan, Installation Team
An early career in retail management followed by 30 years as a police officer gives Bruce a strong foundation in customer satisfaction, personal responsibility and discipline. Never without a smile Bruce always ensures your installation from the Rachel Usher team is a positive and high quality experience.
When he’s not providing our clients with an expert and skilful service, a purveyor of a splendid beard Bruce entertains us with his humorous anecdotes about his dog Monty.
Sox, Top Dog
Sox - Our studio Cavapoo can usually be found lying beneath someones feet or staring at the treat cupboard longingly. Sox loves to play fetch and will bring her favourite blue dinosaur to anyone who will throw it!
